How to Plan and Enjoy The Ultimate Family Vacation

Planning an ultimate family vacation that’s awesome and fun for the whole family starts with choosing the ultimate family vacation destination. After that’s chosen, all that’s left to do is decide on the fun activities you’ll do when you’re finally out on your family vacation. It seems much easier said than done, doesn’t it? It doesn’t have to be such a hassle, though. Instead of sitting at your computer desk tearing your hair out as you frantically plan the ultimate family vacation, keep calm and keep these handy little tips in mind. They’re sure to lead you to a great vacation with your family.

1. Choose a place with space for the kids to run around

As previously stated, planning the perfect vacation to take with the whole family starts with choosing an amazing family vacation destination. The best places that are sure to induce smiles and giggles in even the grumpiest of family members are destinations that have a lot of room for the kids to roam free. Allow the kids to play make-believe in the mountains or have a blast hiking seemingly secret trails in the woods. Children love adventure, and the best place to find adventure is the great outdoors.

2. Get family bonding time in fresh air

Get away from the smog and smoky skies of the city, and take your family to a beautifully serene and natural landscape where they can breathe and take in pretty sights. The family that enjoys nature together stays together.

3. Choose a place where the family can disconnect for a while

Get away from all the beeps of cellphones, the dings of the computer alerts, and the buzzing of the alarm clocks with your family. Choose a family vacation destination that will allow your family to disconnect and give you real time to just enjoy each other’s company and conversations.

4. Pick a place that offers fun events

When planning, be sure to choose a vacation spot that has fun events going on in the area. How can you find out if there are events going on in areas you’re thinking of taking the family? Easy – just head over to the city’s tourism website and check out the events calendar. If you can’t find one on the city’s website, a quick Google search for city events will fix that little problem right up. It’s well worth the research, because what could possibly be more fun than enjoying parades and city fairs with your family? (The answer, of course, is absolutely nothing!)

5. Find a place with fun family activities offered

Just imagine the giggles and smiles you’ll receive when your family learns that you’ve planned a trip to a family vacation destination that offers cool activities like snowboarding, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, and off-roading! Don’t forget to choose a destination that offers great spas and treatments in the area to surprise your spouse with!

Tips For the Gay Traveler Going to Egypt

As home to many sites of cultural, religious and historical importance, Egypt has attracted visitors for hundreds of years. Gay vacations in this beautiful country can include a wide variety of activities, such as riding through the desert on the back of a camel, exploring ancient cities, gazing at the monumental Great Pyramids of Giza, taking a boat cruise on the Nile, dining and shopping in large, modern cities or wiling away an afternoon on gorgeous white sand beaches. From exploring the Temple of Edfu or the Valley of Kings burial tombs, to finding the perfect souvenir in the Khan al Khalili Bazaar and viewing the treasures of King Tutankhamun at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, there is simply no end to the wonders that Egypt has to offer. Anyone partaking in gay travel to Africa simply will not want to miss the opportunity to incorporate this intriguing country into their gay vacation plans.

While Egypt is a great destination for gay vacations, there are some points of interest to members of the LGBT community. The Egyptian government has become more aggressive in its efforts to arrest and imprison gay men in recent years, including a very public trial of over 50 men arrested on a boat hosting a night club in 2001 and several undercover sting operations in gathering spots, online chat rooms and other venues, which have led to arrests and imprisonment.

While Egyptian men are usually the focus of these raids and online undercover operations, local women and male and female tourists have also been arrested. There are no laws that specifically ban same-sex sexual activity conducted in private between consenting adults; however, laws against debauchery, contempt for religion and other similar behaviors have been used in recent years to persecute members of the LGBT community in Egypt.

With this being said, that does not mean that gay travel to Egypt should be avoided, or that all locals can be assumed to be homophobic. Most folks who partake in gay vacations to Egypt find that locals are warm and welcoming and report no legal issues during their travels. It does mean that you will not find a visible LGBT community for the most part. While there are popular meeting spots in Alexandria, Luxor, Dahab, Cairo, Aswan and other larger metropolitan areas, discretion is key, as these popular hangouts are also well-known to the police.

Egypt is a land of mystery with several must-see historical and cultural attractions. To experience some of the best offerings of Egypt, while also helping to ensure a safe trip without hassles, those seeking a gay vacation to Egypt should consider taking in this intriguing country as part of a gay travel tour, or at the very least, going through a travel agency that is aware of issues of concern to the LGBT community and is able to provide the information necessary for safe, fulfilling gay vacations to Egypt.

Packing For Your Sanibel Island Vacation

So you’re going to Sanibel Island, Florida on vacation! Congratulations! It will be a fun and relaxing vacation with many happy memories. But first, you need to pack all your stuff so you are prepared for your journey to paradise.

Most likely you are staying in a resort, cottage or condo which will be larger than a regular hotel room. Most of these units have a small kitchen area for your use. So let’s start with meals and snacks and what to bring regarding food and drinks.

I like to bring snacks and drinks with me so I don’t have to make a visit to the grocery store. Nothing says drudgery more than having to go to the grocery store while on vacation. So, I pack a box with breakfast items such as Pop-Tarts and Rice Krispie Treats! I also bring small individually wrapped snacks to munch on during the week. Examples are bring potato chips, cookies, peanuts etc. I like the food to be individually wrapped because it makes it easier to put the snacks in your beach bag. Also, south Florida is well known for having small black ants that like your food! Keeping your food sealed (I recommend zip-lock bags) will prevent food loss after an ant invasion!

I also bring a large quantity of water, juices and diet drinks. Place the drinks in the refrigerator as soon as you arrive and then you are set for the week.

Next, you need to think of what you need for the beach! Items to remember are your favorite chair, lounger, umbrella, sand digger and straw mats. Most of the hotels, condos and resorts provide chairs for you (some do not, so check beforehand). So many are not comfortable thus I prefer to bring my own chair with me. Remember to bring your beach bag with all the essentials, such as beach towels, visor, suntan lotion, water spray bottle, sunglasses, cover-up and a book or a magazine.

Next, what do to you pack to wear for a week on Sanibel Island? The best thing to remember is that the temperature will be comfortable most of the year, so heavy clothing is not needed. In the summer it can be hot, so think cool cottons. Shorts and short sleeve shirts are a must. Shorts and tops are fine for every restaurant. The restaurants are all casual (but no cut offs, flip flops or tee-shirts for the nicer places). Leave your suit, tie and dress at home. You probably will wear your swim suit most of the day. And I have gone to many restaurants wearing my swim suit under a cover-up for lunch (but don’t do it for dinner). It’s a resort-like atmosphere all over the island. Be comfortable and enjoy your vacation!

I would bring a light jacket for when it rains. It will help keep you dry as you dash to the vehicle. During the summer months, be prepared for monsoon-like rains during the afternoon and early evening hours. The storms usually don’t last long but can come at inconvenient times, like right when you’re ready to leave for dinner! Keep a beach or bath towel in the car so you can dry off after the mad dash to the vehicle. Don’t forget the umbrella!

Sandals and flip flops are the norm for the day. If your intent is to rent a bicycle while on the Sanibel I would recommend bringing athletic shoes for that kind of activity. The athletic shoes tend to get dirty and greasy, so bring an older pair if possible. Also if you get caught in the rain, having a dry pair of shoes back at your resort will be a good thing!

Most importantly don’t forget the camera. You want to be able to catch all those great memories for your scrapbook.

I hope this list of ideas assists you when packing for your vacation to Sanibel Island, Florida. It’s a little bit of paradise and I hope you have a wonderful time!

Vacation Packages Guide – What to Look for in Family Vacations, Cruises, Ski Resorts and Other Deals

No matter where you want to go, you can always find deals on vacation packages. More often than not, buying a vacation package is less costly than paying for every part of the trip separately. Leading online travel agencies often give the option of paying for the airfare, hotel room, and car rental at the same time – and save money in the process.

There are vacation packages to just about every destination in the world, ranging from tourist hot spots to lesser known spots off the beaten path. Some of these packages are general and don’t have a specific theme. If you do want to take a vacation that is tailored to your needs, you’ll find deals on family vacations, cruise trips, ski trips, and more.

Family Vacation Deals

When it comes to taking a trip with the entire family, you need to consider the interests and preferences of everyone in the group. There should be something at the destination spot that appeals to everyone. Popular destinations for families include Disney, SeaWorld, Bush Gardens, the Bahamas, Universal Studios, and so forth. Another popular vacation spot for families is one that might surprise you: Las Vegas. These days, Vegas is a highly versatile city. It’s not all about gambling and nightlife, there are fun, safe family activities as well.

Some resorts offer free or discount tickets to small children. If grandma and grandpa are coming along, they might be eligible for senior discounts. Be sure to go with a package that is specifically tailored toward families. In addition to fun activities, some offer educational experiences as well. A Grand Canyon trip, for instance, can be exciting AND educational both. At parks such as SeaWorld, there are programs that allow visitors to interact with some of the animals.

Ski Vacation Packages

A ski resort is the perfect getaway for anybody. Even those who don’t ski still find this type of vacation enjoyable. It gives them a chance to relax in a beautiful, snowy setting. The enchanting atmosphere also makes skin vacations an ideal romantic getaway.

No matter when and where you want to go you will find a variety of packages online, including accommodation at certain resorts or cabins, options to rent ski equipment, and so forth. When deciding on a ski vacation, think the level of experience of everyone in your group. If everybody has different levels of experience, then go to a destination spot that offers multiple slopes and ski paths.

Another thing you’ll want to decide is where to go. There are the popular ski resorts such as Aspen, Lake Tahoe, and Winter Park. These aren’t for everyone, however, and there are many other ski destination spots scattered across North America. If you really want to go all out, why not go to an international ski resort? Imagine how exotic it would be to ski at the Swiss Alps or Kiroro in Japan.

There are just so many great destinations that it’s impossible to list them all. What you can do is look over all of the packages and read reviews on each resort. Go with the package that not only interests you, but offers something for everyone in your group.

Flight Deals and Hotel Deals

Most vacation packages include airfare and hotel accommodation both. The accommodation can also be at a resort, inn, rental cottage, villa, and so forth. Even if you don’t select a specific vacation when booking your trip, most online sites will give you the option to book both at the same time.

New offers pop up on the internet every day. Many of these come in the form of last minute deals. If there are a number of empty seats a day or so before a flight, airlines will sometimes offer extra savings in hopes of getting those seats filled. The same goes for hotels and resorts that want to keep as many rooms filled as possible on any given night.

Whenever flight deals come from a specific airline, you need to check and see if that airline serves any cities near you. Also, make sure the dates of the flight and hotel stay coincide with your schedule. If you have a flexible schedule, then this won’t matter as much.

As for hotel deals, some packages require that you stay for a minimum amount of nights, which can range anywhere from two to ten.

Cruise Vacation

Who doesn’t dream of spending a few days on the sea, relaxing on a ship filled with luxury and entertainment? Today’s cruise liners are as large as small cities. They’re filled with dining rooms, ball rooms, theaters, tennis courts, swimming pools, shops, restaurants, etc. There are thousands of cabins and rooms, some of which have windows.

The cost of a cruise varies, depending on factors such as the ship line, departure port, ports of call, season, number of nights, and so forth. Some cruise vacation packages include airfare to and from all of the ports that particular line serves.

When planning a cruise, there are a few things to consider:

  • Destination
  • Departure city
  • Itinerary
  • Number of nights
  • Cost
  • Reputation of the cruise line
  • Excursion opportunities
  • Cabin type

As for destination, in which part of the world would you like to explore? There are cruise vacation packages for Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands, Caribbean islands, Mexico, Key West, the Mediterranean, etc. Wherever you want to go, be sure to check out excursion opportunities. You won’t be the on the sea during the entire cruise – you’ll get a chance to spend some time on land whenever the ship makes a port stop. You must decide whether or not it would be cheaper to arrange excursion activities with the ship line itself, or book them with a third party.

Another thing to consider when comparing packages is whether or not there are any special perks included, such as on-board credit and food discounts.

Whether you want to go on a ski trip, family trip, cruise, or exciting getaway, always look online for deals on vacation packages. You might be surprised at how affordable even the most luxurious vacations can be these days!

• Consider your destination. Exotic beach vacations are very popular these days, in places like the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Maldives, Fiji, etc. However, there are still plenty of romantic cities in Europe to consider. You don’t even have to leave the US. Maybe you can do the Vegas thing or head to Hawaii. What about a bungalow rental in Key West? Or an exciting week in NYC? • Honeymoon vacations don’t always have to be in one spot. You could always go on a cruise. Azamara Club, Princess, Norwegian, and Celebrity cruises all offer great honeymoon packages. Today’s cruise ships have spas, butlers, luxury suites, and more. You can opt to stay on the ocean for most of the time or choose an itinerary with exciting port cities.
